Adult Stem Cells and Why They Need AIO

As a Critical Care Nurse for over 16 years, our body’s health has always been at the forefront of my research and continuing education. I decided to give you some information on Adult Stem Cells and why it is so important to keep them at an optimal level. After this brief educational overview it will become clear why it is so vital to maintain and regenerate them at this cellular level.

Adult stem cells are the foundation of our body makeup. There are 2 main types that are important to our understanding of the body and the importance of its proper nutrition.

Hematopoietic stem cells are adult stem cells found mainly in the bone marrow and they provide the blood cells required for daily blood turnover and for fighting infections. Hematopoietic stem cells have been studied by scientists for many years, and they were the first stem cells to be used successfully in therapies for decades to treat blood cancers (e.g.leukemia) and other blood disorders.

More recently, their use in treatment of breast cancer and coronary artery diseases has also been explored. Visit the NeoStem website for videos on the successes of this amazing technology.

Mesenchymal stem cells are another well-characterized population of adult stem cells. These cells, also found in the bone marrow, can form a variety of cells in the laboratory, including fat cells, cartilage, bone, tendon and ligaments, muscles cells, skin cells and even nerve cells. Mesenchymal stem cells have been studied in great detail and scientists have advanced knowledge about how to grow these cells in culture.

Unlike most other human adult stem cells, mesenchymal stem cell scan be obtained in quantities appropriate for clinical applications, making them good candidates for use in tissue repair.

Mesenchymal stem cells can also be frozen to preserve them, and when they are thawed they function apparently normally, thus allowing for future "off-the-shelf" therapy approaches. Our parent company, NeoStem, is at the forefront of this research and technology. Perhaps one of the important considerations for human applications is that mesenchymal stem cells can be derived from a small bone marrow sample from a given patient, expanded in culture, and given back to the patient. This would avoid the problems associated with immune rejection of foreign transplanted cells or tissues.

There is no controversy involved with Adult Stem Cells. They are a key component to our bodies and the health of our stem cells impacts our overall health.

Adult stem cells are capable of self-renewal throughout our lifetime. The condition of our adult stem cell is a bio marker of aging. Keeping our adult stem cells at an optimum level of performance can slow down or possibly even reverse aging and disease processes.

What does this mean? Well, in addition to treating cancers such as leukemia, multiple myeloma and lymphomas – optimizing adult stem cells has now opened the doors of regenerative and repairing therapeutics like wound care and anti aging procedures.

On a more personal level, the quality and quantity of your adult stem cells can be improved by optimal lifestyle and proper supplements.
